Statement from Khalsa Education Trust

Statement from Khalsa Education Trust
0 18 March 2015

It is with deepest regret and sadness that we are having to share the news that unfortunately Khalsa Engineering Academy will not be opening at the site in Fagley this September.

Khalsa Education Trust (KET) has worked tirelessly over the past two years to ensure the school would open in September 2015. The team had met all the conditions put forward by the Department of Education, other than securing a site. The purchase of a site is a complex process and handled by the Education Funding Agency. The EfA have made many efforts to secure the site of the former community centre in Fagley but have failed to reach an agreement with the local council to amend a land charge on the site that would enable us to open in September. This land charge currently prevents the site being used for anything that is not community related. Education unfortunately does not fall under this category.

It is furthermore disappointing for the residents of Fagley following the announcements that planning permission has been granted for 600 properties which will see many parents struggle further to get their children into a local school. We had hoped to ease this pressure and it is disappointing for all concerned that this will not happen.

We are absolutely devastated for the parents, children and the community as a whole. We are sure you have many questions around this and we therefore direct you to some FAQs. If you would like to contact us to discuss further you can do so by calling us on 01274 350025 or by emailing info@khalsaeducationtrust.com

KET wishes to firmly state that we are indebted for all the support we have received from parents, carers, the DfE, the EfA, and the Bradford community. KET is wholly committed to providing nothing less than an outstanding education for all our pupils, in excellent facilities capable of delivering our curriculum. We invite all our supporters to get involved with researching and developing our next application to the DfE.

Yours faithfully
