Khalsa Engineering Academy is open to everyone. It is a non-selective school applications are welcome from every child, regardless of their religion, race, gender, physical ability or special education needs.

For the main admission round, all on time preferences will be considered simultaneously and ranked in accordance with the admission criteria.

Pupils with statements of special educational needs

The governing body will admit any pupil whose final statement of special educational needs names the school. This is not an oversubscription criterion. Where possible such children will be admitted within the PAN.

Timetable for Applications

Applications open in line with the Local Education Authority and applications can be completed online.

Applications must be completed between 1st November 2015 and 15th January 2016.

Alternatively we will have paper applications available that can be completed at school – please contact reception for further information.

If the school is oversubscribed we will offer places in the following order of priority:

1. Children who are proven to be in the care of a local authority or provided with accommodation by that authority

2. Children who have a brother or sister on the roll of Khalsa Engineering Academy at the time of application, and who will still be on roll at the time of the siblings admission

3. Children whose parents / legal guardians / carers have applied to the Academy and live nearest to the Academy, as measured in a straight line

4. Tiebreak we will use Random Allocation if two pupils live exactly the same distance away, for example, in a block of flats.

Timeline for Appeals 2015/16

The Independent Appeal Panel may not consider any material not submitted by the specified deadline. You must also inform the panel if you intend to call any witnesses or be represented at the appeal hearing.

Appeals against a decision for transfers in any other year group will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being received by the school

Following the hearing decision letters will be sent within 5 days of the hearing where possible.

School days are term time only and do not include school holidays e.g. an appeal received in July after the Academy has closed will not be heard until the new academic year.
